This qualification aims at introducing prospective students to the world of crop farming/Production and management in general. Students are introduced to the agricultural industry from site identification, land preparation, propagation, crop management, harvesting, processing, packaging and marketing. This diploma also equips students with the relevant latest techniques and technology which will make them highly competitive in terms of establishing their own farms and farming cooperatives. The diploma exposes the students to the real life working environments through engagement with major commercial agricultural role players and stakeholders.

Upon completion of this qualification students will have the necessary competence to monitor, implement, co-ordinate, plan, control and provide leadership regarding the plant production processes.

Competency will be gained in any of the specialized sub-fields of Plant Production as specified under Areas of Specialization (i.e. Vegetables, Fruit Production, Hydroponics, Nursery Management etc.) with a strong focus on production and management.

Duration

Plant production is a full time 3-year diploma qualification with experiential training in the last semester of the 3rd year.
